SIDE STREET: Jung Han Kim is one of the artists whose artwork will be featured in the exhibition The Young and the Experienced at Elder Gallery Jan. 2-31.

Being young doesn’t mean you can’t create masterpieces, and Elder Gallery sets out to explore this idea with its latest exhibition The Young and the Experienced. The gallery will feature the artwork of 10 artists; five “young” (including Steve Javiel, Jung Han Kim, Marcos Shih, Gopika Sitwala and Sai Thongvahn) and five “experienced” (including Carl Blair, Claire Miller Hopkins, Philip Mullen, Tom Perkinson and Carl Pansky). Each artist’s pieces will vary in subject matter and media. See if you can spot the more experienced artists from the younger ones. Free. Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Also, open by appointment on Monday. Elder Gallery, 1427 South Blvd., Ste. 101. 704-370-6337. www.elderart.com.
