Epnic, which is shorthand for “Disneysque Ethnic” (i.e., Epcot plus Ethnic), is used to describe those very American restaurants which serve “not exactly” or “almost” ethnic food. The folks here spend oodles on the interior and do not have chef-driven kitchens. PF Chang’s is a popular spot in Charlotte; it takes the “eth” out of ethnic and is perfectly suited for folks who would never dream of going to Central Avenue and having the authentic stuff served in a diamond-in-the-rough.
