Something pungent comes swiftly through downtown, wafting in from the general direction of … Historic SouthEnd?! That’s right. It’s time once again for the best thing since man discovered beer … what goes best with beer? The answer is unanimously barbeque. That wonderful Southern delicacy of pork tenderly grilled until it’s falling off the bones then basted with just the right amount of sauce, mixed with more secret ingredients than the Colonel’s got in his infamous chicken. Blues, Brews and BBQ 2006, part of the Charlotte Shout! Celebration, is NC’s only Memphis in May sanctioned BBQ Cook-off. It starts on Friday, Sept. 22 and ends that Saturday. Headquarters is Camden Road from Park Avenue to Tryon Street and Summit Avenue from Tryon to Church streets. In addition to the succulent BBQ and frosty brews, music will be provided by Robin Rogers and Her Hot Band, Chris Duarte and Bluestone and the Clayton Miller Band. 1. Not nearly enough info. The link to Charlotteshouts didn’t work. So, even though the Blues and BBQ are two of our favorite things, we didn’t go. If I am going to drive almost an hour I want to know what to expect when I get there. Inside? Outside? Parking? Time beginning and ending. etc.,etc.
