It takes a combination of balance and skill to be a ballet dancer, but it takes even more of that to measure up to the steps of ballet choreographer George Balanchine. On Sept. 18 through Sept. 20, the North Carolina Dance Theatre will present Timeless Ballets By Balanchine, featuring three of Balanchine’s most influential works including La Sonnambula, Raymonda Variations and The Four Temperaments. The Charlotte Symphony will provide the music scores. $25-$69. Sept. 18, 7:30 p.m.; Sept. 19, 8 p.m.; Sept. 20, 8 p.m. Belk Theater, 130 North Tryon St. 704-372-1000. www.ncdance.org.
