You’re right. The final installment in Royal Shakespeare Company’s 2007 residency at Davidson College, Days of Significance, was not written by the Bard. But Roy Williams’ new work, presented here in its American premiere, was inspired by Much Ado About Nothing. Action is transplanted to an English market-town — and the deserts of Iraq — with two soldiers as our protagonists. At question: the prudence of sending callow youths abroad to represent the West in the war for minds in a post-Saddam region. Presented in promenade style by the same acting company that has scintillated in The Winter’s Tale. Two performances only, Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. and a Friday matinee at 1:30 p.m. Traditional seating is $68, or do the promenade for $50. Call 704-894-2135.
