If the extent of your knowledge on dinosaurs is limited to re-runs of Jurassic Park on TBS, this may be the event for you. A little education never hurt, right? Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries is a global adventure of science and discovery — featuring an extraordinary diorama of a 130-million-year-old Mesozoic forest in China. Yeah, we’re not sure what that means either. Jeff Goldblum and Steven Spielberg failed us, but this exhibit won’t. See newly discovered fossils that reveal the evolutionary link between ancient dinosaurs and modern-day birds and watch an animatronic T. rex walk in place. Runs through Aug. 17. Discovery Place. 301 N. Tryon St. 704-372-6261. www.discoveryplace.org.
