The 16th Annual Carolina Renaissance Festival gives folks with a fascination of medieval times and merriment (or just those who like to dress up in medieval attire) the chance to catch a glimpse of what life might have been like back then. Of course, it’s a rather carefree way of looking at the time period. “Quality entertainment” consisted of the sometimes deadly jousting tournaments, but at Ren Fest you should have no such worries. So, kick back with a big ol’ turkey leg and watch the jousting tournaments — where no one really dies — in style. And if that’s not your thing, plenty of other entertainment is nearby, plus there are always shopping opportunities in the marketplace. Continues on Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 22. $18 for adults; $7 for children 5-12 years old; free for children under 5 years old. 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. 16445 Poplar Tent Road. 704-896-5544.
