Chaos is to be expected in Danish writer and director Lars von Trier’s Antichrist. Having debuted at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, the psycho thriller horror film quickly received criticism for being misogynic and for its extreme sexual violence. In the film, a couple (played by Charlotte Gainsbourg and Willem Dafoe) retreats to a cabin in the woods after the death of their infant child — who, by the way, fell from a two-story building while the couple was having sex … Yikes! But as solitude grows for the two parents, who hope to seek renewal from their grief during the retreat, things end up going from bad to worse.
