The Main Library’s Summer Film Series, Once Upon a Time in the West: Great Hollywood* Westerns (* and one Italian), continues today with a screening of John Ford’s 1962 masterpiece The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Notable for (among other attributes) the immortal line “When the legend becomes fact, print the legend,” this stars James Stewart as a civilized tenderfoot trying to hold his own in the Wild West, John Wayne as a macho gunslinger, and Lee Marvin as the villainous title character. Free. 2 p.m. Wachovia Playhouse, ImaginOn, 300 E. 7th St. 704-973-2780.
