North Carolina Dance Theatre is promising us a trio of old and new gems as the city’s most-esteemed performing arts company unveils NATURAL BEAUTY. The lush Amazonian rainforest is the inspiration for Spanish-born choreographer Nacho Duato’s Na Floresta, spiced with the music of Villa-Lobos. George Balanchine’s classic Rubies is a pretty eclectic mix in its own right, blending jazz, rhumba, tango with a touch of vaudeville. NCDT resident choreographer Dwight Rhoden turns to Chopin, the Fifth Dimension, and Sweet Honey in the Rock for his new Set Rise Fall. At Belk Theater through Saturday, the opening night 7:30 p.m. performance is followed by a pair at 8 p.m. Enjoy the great music and NCDT’s edgy athleticism for $10-$56. Call 704-372-1000.
