Front man Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows could have been a doctor (well, maybe … he is the son of two of them), but he decided to take the rock star route instead. And boy are we glad he did! How would we have gotten through the ’90s without all those hits from albums like August and Everything After, Recovering The Satellites or This Desert Life? We would have gotten through, but we wouldn’t have been flying inside. That said, Counting Crows’ upcoming visit to Charlotte should be marked on your calendars right about … now. The group – whose fifth studio album (released in 2008) Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings featured both rock and country-like songs – performs at Uptown Amphitheatre tonight. 7:30 p.m. Uptown Amphitheatre, 820 Hamilton St. 704-549-5555. www.livenation.com.
