'STAY': Gavin Degraw will perform at Neighborhood Theatre on May 3.

Gavin Degraw‘s 2003 Chariot album was full of hits (Think: “I Don’t Want To Be,” “Chariot,” “Follow Through”) with catchy chorus lines and hooking rock melodies. On his newest album Free, DeGraw seems less interested in hit-making and more focused on a musical display of raw emotions. This isn’t a bad thing though as the album is still quite up to par. DeGraw will make his way to Charlotte during his “Where It Began” Spring 2009 Tour. Make sure you catch him when he performs an intimate, full band acoustic set at Neighborhood Theatre. Honeyhoney opens. $26-$41. Doors open at 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m. Neighborhood Theatre, 511 E. 36th St. 704-358-9298. www.neighborhoodtheatre.com.
