Celebrate gospel music at its finest by attending Joyfest 2008. The festival features a variety of inspirational performances, including Canton Jones, Marvin Sapp, J. Moss, Tye Tribbett and headliner Fred Hammond. Hammond’s knack for writing up gospel crafts has earned him a reputation in the music business, along with a pile of awards. His most recent win was the 2008 Stellar Award for Contemporary Male of the Year. Another Joyfest performer, Tye Tribbett, is a master for generating intense energy and glorious gospels. His band Tye Tribbett & Greater Anointing (G.A.) released its newest album Stand Out on May 6. $19.99-$51.99. 5 p.m. Carowinds (Paladium Amphitheatre), 14523 Carowinds Blvd. 704-522-6500. www.carowinds.com.
