In conjunction with the Levine Museum of the New South’s exhibit featuring Southern stereotypes in cartoons, the Main Library is presenting Southern Flavor: Films About the South. Tonight’s feature is William Wyler’s glorious 1938 melodrama Jezebel, starring Bette Davis as a fiery Southern belle and Henry Fonda as her put-upon suitor. An Academy Award nominee for Best Picture, this earned Oscars for both Davis and Fay Bainter (as her aunt). The remaining films in the series are The Long Hot Summer (Oct. 1), Nothing But a Man (Oct. 22) and the silent 1927 classic The General, with piano accompaniment by Eytan Uslan (Oct. 29). 7 p.m. Free admission.
