Wallowing in the mud is for pigs, right? Wrong. It’s also for teams (of people) during the 4th Annual Murphy’s Dirty 30 Mud Volleyball Tournament — first conceptualized as a birthday party for Habitat For Humanity Charlotte ReStore manager Tim Murphy … hence, the event name. To win matches, participants must get down and dirty, as multiple tournies take place in large mud pits. Yuck! Sounds like a mess to me, but it does have a purpose (other than sending folks home to scrub-a-dub dub) of raising funds for Habitat for Humanity, an organization that services the community by building affordable homes for those in need. 1 p.m. Metrolina Tradeshow Expo, 7100 Statesville Road. www.habitatmudvolleyball.org.
