You may be teary-eyed after watching A Thousand Cranes, performed by the Tarradiddle Players. The play tells the true story of Sadako Sasaki, who developed leukemia at the age of 12 after an atomic bomb destroyed the village of Hiroshima, where she lived. Survival and a strong aspiration to live gave her the ambition to fold 1,000 origami paper cranes based on a Japanese legend. $14-$18. Continues through Nov. 2. Oct. 26, 2 p.m.; Nov. 1, 3 p.m.; Nov. 2, 2 p.m. Wachovia Playhouse, 300 East 7th St. 704-973-2828. www.ctcharlotte.org.
