“The first rule of Fight Club is: You don’t talk about Fight Club.” Oops … well, now you know why I’m not in the club. Citizens of the Universe promises you an evening of bloody brawls and deranged enlightenment, as they perform Fight Club, a play by Dylan Yates based on the popular film and best-selling novel by author Chuck Palahniuk. The play is directed by James Cartee and features original music scores by George Brazil. Expect some fist-pumping disorder to shake up the Q.C. when your favorite characters — Jack (Diego Francica), Tyler (Stephen West-Rogers), Marla (Kaddie Sharpe) and the Space Monkeys (Bret Kimbrough, Chris Freeman, John Micheal Coutsos, Kenny Kline) — duke it out in the parking lot behind 1311 Central Ave. in Plaza Midwood. You can also enjoy pre-show drinks and music at Snug Harbor (1228 Gordon St.) at 6:30 p.m. and post-show meet-and-greets with the cast at Thirsty Beaver (1225 Central Ave.) The show is recommended for folks 18 and up. Performances may be canceled due to inclement weather. $10. July 2-4 and July 9-11, 8:30 p.m. Parking lot behind 1311 Central Ave. 704-449-9742 or 704-953-2874. www.citizensoftheuniverse.org.
