Catechism class might not be exactly what springs to mind when you think of quality entertainment, but the one-man act show known as Late Nite Catechism should do the trick. The comedy creates a catholic school-like atmosphere — the audience being the “class” — where the “Sister” leads in dishing out some particular (and funny!) ethics for living. $24.50 and up. Oct. 8, 7:30 p.m.; Oct. 9-10, 8 p.m.; Oct. 11, 3 p.m. Booth Playhouse, 130 N. Tryon St. 704-372-1000. www.blumenthalcenter.org.
