The Q.C.’s newest art gallery, Genome is hosting an exhibit on … chickens. More than 15 artists submitted works for the showcase after being given one word on which to base a single piece. Not sure why the feathered fowls were chosen, but the results (such as the pictured piece by Henry Schreiber) are pretty damn impressive. During the reception, gourmet cupcakes will be provided by FuManChu Cupcakes and a snack dish from Valhalla Pub & Eatery.

Exhibit continues through Sept. 22. Reception on Aug. 20 begins at 6 p.m. Genome, 120 Brevard Court. 704-332-4322. www.ohgenome.com.
