Culture Initiative’s Carlleena Person contrives contemporary art — like her pictured piece, titled “Cowgirls” — out of bold lines and vibrant colors. Her current exhibit, on view through September at Escape Hair and Skin Studio, will be celebrated with a reception on Aug. 5, from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Music, refreshments and live painting are in the mix, and it’s free to attend.
