We — the editorial brain trust here at Creative Loafing — love comedy.

It doesn’t matter if it’s stand-up, sketch, improv or just a parade of drunk bankers clumsily stumbling down Tryon Street, we love watching, listening to and, in general, consuming the comedic arts.

And, damn, laughter is needed at this point in history, isn’t it? Especially in Charlotte — where executives are under fire, businesses are struggling to stay open, condos are ceasing construction and folks are, all in all, having a shitty time. The only thing left to do is laugh. Well, besides drinking. Or some chronic. Or … oh you get the point: Denizens of the Q.C. need a giggle fix.

With all that in mind, we thought now would be a great time to scour the town and uncover the people who have made it their mission to churn out the chuckles; you know, the best and the brightest when it comes to joking and joshing. Yes, we’ve hunted down the folks whom Charlotteans need to see when it’s time to chortle and wrapped them in one giant newsprint bow just for you.

Turn the pages in this laugh-packed package and see profiles on some of the city’s about-to-blow-up comics, a look at the state of the local comic-scape and a preview of some cool comedy shows coming soon to a venue near you.

OK, now get to reading. We hope this helps. If not, there’s always Wild Turkey. Or … oh you get the point.
