You can tell that Bush is gone and the Environmental Protection Agency is no longer under the thumb of big oil. Today, the EPA made it official: Carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases are a danger to public health and welfare. The declaration opens the way to more regulation of cars, factories, and power plants. And yes, that will mean that energy will probably be more expensive as a result of additional regulation. But you know what? That seems to be the only way to get people to pay attention to the problem of global warming, much less to change their habits.
