There’s a tempting allure to Nico Amortegui’s chaotic artwork. Comprised of schizophrenic lines, colors, shapes, symbols and words, we can easily draw comparisons to the works of Jean-Michel Basquiat. But Amortegui is a one-of-a-kind and one of our own.

The Colombian-born artist lives in Charlotte, where he’ll debut his newest collection, The Beauty of the Beast opens at Cosmos Cafe on Dec. 1.
