The “hacktivist” group known as Anonymous sent out quite a cryptic message about its plans for the Democratic National Convention that include marbles and news trucks.
The messages calls out Charlotte’s tumultuous history with Occupiers, including the camping ban aimed at eradicating Occupiers from old city hall’s front lawn and the “extraordinary events” designation that bans masks, bandanas and waters bottles from public gatherings.
Bring all of these things with you and try to clog the security check-point lines. Bring marbles! We have something special in store…
Educate yourself on the security rules and where certain zones are located before you get there. By knowing the rules, you will know better how to break them.

The obvious use of marbles would be to thwart advancement of riot control police. The only thing is, now they know this is going to happen so they’re not going to do it without using something like a water cannon to move the marbles and protesters out of the way. If they plan on using it for something totally different, kudos to you, because I can’t fathom it. Unless they were to be used in paintball guns, and in that case, you’re going to get shot with real bullets, not glass ones at sub-lethal velocities.

It is being organized by AnonBloc, not Anonymous. They are planning on a lot more than just a simple Occupy style protest. They want to badger CMPD into a fight.
AnonBloc plans to be there. Not to badger the CMPD! Only to make sure they stay in line and not over step their power, like so many group of police have on many occasions. AnonBloc doesn’t start fight… that is the Feds job.

The security measures are in response to the past and what is expected. Anonymous in no way has ever helped its cause. The more they continue to do, the more security measures will be increased due to their threats(albeit usually quite childish) and methods.
