New Paintings by Andres Vivo at Providence Gallery: A native of Uruguay, Vivo is known for his maritime scenes. He paints in a semi-abstract style in oil on canvas. Don’t these paintings make you want to go sailing? July 1-31. 601 Providence Road, Suite A. 704-333-4535. www.providencegallery.net.

Free Evenings at Mint Museum (Uptown or Randolph locations): For folks who don’t know, admission to the Mint is free every Wednesday evening. This Wednesday, Charlotte Knights’ mascot Homer the Dragon will be making an appearance (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and new Charlotte Knights uniforms will be on view at the Uptown location’s atrium. Folks who aren’t interested in baseball can stick to roaming the galleries extensive collections. Wine available at a cash bar. Free admission (extra fee for the Women of Vision exhibit).
