Leandro Manzo exhibit at LaCa Projects: Manzo, who hails from Argentina, is known for his figurative expressionist paintings and drawings. Musicality exhibit at Paper Cut Gallery: The exhibit, which explores the connection between music and art, appropriately opens during Charlotte’s annual Recess Fest. It showcases works by local artists who are either singer/songwriters/band members or have been inspired by music and musicians. Rae LeGrone’s “Ghost Trees in Repose” (pictured) is a drawing created as a promotional poster for jazz group Ghost Trees. Reception with live music on July 25. Open House at McColl Center for Art + Innovation: The open house highlights the closing of Aurora Robson’s Stayin’ Alive exhibit. Robson multi-media installations reuse plastics to point out the need for environmental consciousness. According to information on the exhibit, the title is “asking us to consider what exactly staying alive on earth entails.” The open house will also give folks a chance to see artwork by McColl’s summer affiliate artists.
