Q: You guys talk tons this week about Creative Loafing‘s past. What do you have planned for the future?
A: Good question! Yes, we devoted most of this issue to honoring the great things we’ve done over the last 20 years. But, rest assured, we have a ton of great things planned for the not-too-distant future.
First off, we’re going to roll out a gang of new features for the Web. A few weeks ago, we launched our very first blog — The CLog (www.theclogblog.com) — and we’re going to continue developing it, evolving it and adding new content every day. In a month or so, columnist Tara Servatius gets her very own “Citizen Servatius” blog … keep your eyes peeled for an announcement about that real soon. And in addition to blogs, be on the lookout for the debut of official CL Podcasts (those “radio shows” you can download to your iPod), more official CL MySpace pages (www.myspace.com/clcharlottemusic), and more.
Now when it comes to CL‘s print edition, look for the launch of a brand new weekly column about race and pop culture; we also plan to provide expanded coverage on Charlotte’s business world, state politics, environmental issues, crime, schools, and illegal immigration, among other stuff. And, we recently hired a new music editor (say hello to Jeff Hahne), so expect to see an ass-load of new stuff in the Vibes section of the paper.
What else? Look for more events — like our recent Political Party town hall meeting, as well as talks about art, culture and music — look for more new, diverse voices writing for CL, look for CL folks out and about in the streets more than ever before, and much, much more.
We have lots more in store for you, kind readers. Stay tuned.
