  1. I wonder if it ever occurred to the politicians to promote a career educator from within instead of flushing huge amounts of money down the rat hole hiring someone to search the entire country to find a person who is jumping from school system to school system in search of the highest salary possible?

You know, someone like the person who will be running the system for the year or so it takes to find the next carpet bagger who will only be here for a couple of years.

  2. I can’t believe it – I’m “liking” a DLP comment!

But DLP is exactly right – these bureauwhores just want to jump from market to market, not unlike TV reporters or disc jockeys. Morrison struck me from the start as a “my goatee or the highway” crybaby.

BTW I randomly searched for a PRIVATE Charlotte school – Charlotte Latin’s “Head Of School” has been in the same job since 2001. Time to SEPARATE “school” and “state” completely.

  3. nobody that lives in charlotte is qualified, prob cause theyre a racist scumbag from charlotte, the new supervisor must be from the north , because anyone that grew up in this craphole of the southern us is gonna be a racist idiot, thats all they grow here in charlotte. So lets start looking in New Hampshire or maine for someone thats educated and understands the importance of a public school system before all the repooplinutsos take over our schools and our country

  4. Is anyone going to mention the fact that thus resignation is taking place the night before an Election Day when the voters will be asked to pay .025 on the dollar to help give raises to teacher aides and veteran teachers?

  5. (Disclaimer: I pulled my son out of CMS and opted for charter school outside of the county.) I don’t believe that a lot of what happens with these positions has anything to do with hiring from within, hiring a northerner or any such rubbish ^^^^. Charlotte (occupants) seem to have a civil war mentality, and if I hear one more person say, “this is how we do it in the south…” Welcome to the REAL WORLD, most of which doesn’t operate like Charlotte. Many of the children here can’t read or write while folks here tout global and STEM education, but want to function as if we are in the 1800s. An educator that leads a school system needs to have a global view, understand the people that they serve, but most important, have a PLAN to educate the children who attend school in CMS. In my experience, many teachers here admit that their students struggle to read and write. One teacher who recently resigned said she did so because “CMS is raising a bunch of dummies.” Yes, she has a northern education…UCONN. Admittedly, everyone’s hands seem to be tied. Bring in an “outsider” and I’m sure they here at least 5 times/week “this is how we do it here.” And I hope they have the courage to ask: How’s that working for CMS so far? You could function without a superintendent, with one from the north, west, east, south and still end up with kids who will never make it outside of an NC college/university where the deficient education seems acceptable. It is my hope that the next superintendent EXPOSES the bureaucracy in this school system, stands up to the good ‘ole boy system, and has a REAL plan to educate CMS students, whether they come from here or not.
