Concord Mills knows that giving space to a business that is borderline racist is bad for business. And according to the Charlotte Observer, they’ve gotten rid of that business.

The owner of Free Market Warrior sold items like bumper stickers that says Impeach Obama and baby bibs that say “My Parents chose life. Thanks Mom and Dad.”

I can’t say that I remember seeing all of this stuff in a store when Bush was in office. Yes, those shirts were around, but most people ordered them from a web site. I’m not surprised that the business exists, everyone isn’t happy President Barack Obama won and unfortunately, all of those right wingers who said they were leaving the country didn’t.

“It’s completely about politics,” said Loren Spivack, owner of the Free Market Warrior. “Half the stores in that mall sold pro-Obama merchandise for months. All I did was present an alternative opinion, and that’s what became so controversial.”

There’s no word on how much money Spivack made, since selling Pro Obama items seems to be the way people are cashing in on the popularity of the president.

The Observer also says:

Spivack traces his problems to a letter to the editor last month that criticized his shop, saying it promoted “ideas such as racism, sexism and even slavery.”

Spivack denies that. He notes that Mel Simon, co-chair of mall owner Simon Property Group, has given generously to Democratic candidates.

Spivack also says he’s found other stores at the mall that sell T-shirts and other merchandise with offensive X-rated slogans.

“It’s really unfair that both I and my employees are being chased out of here for purely political reasons,” he said.

Here’s a lesson, sex sells, racist Obama crap walks.

  1. Spivak should be applauding the free market / private property rights of concord mills. I’m sure there are other malls that’d love to have him. He’s just another “selectively” free market “warrior” neo-con. Lol!

    But still a non-story.
People are always making more of a story than what it is.

  2. Racism will continue to exist as long as it continues to enter the conversation unnecessarily.

  3. You want to see racism? Look at Henry Louis Gates, Jr. This man is the epitome of racism, and sadly the picture of race relations in America.

Here’s another lesson: Making fun of crazy right wingers sells, logic doesn’t.
