Anyone paying attention to weather reports over the summer already knows that Charlotte’s air sucks; damn near every day was a “code orange day,” which means it was “unhealthy for sensitive groups.”

Now we have even more evidence that smog is an issue in the Queen City.

More bad news again about Charlotte’s bad air: A report released today says the Queen City smog problem continues to expose residents to unhealthy levels of pollution.

Environment North Carolina Research & Policy Center released its Danger in the Air: Unhealthy Air Days in 2010 and 2011 study today.

The report says the Charlotte area ranked 17th for the number of unhealthy air days in 2010 among the metro areas studied, which was 17 days.

Charlotte’s air pollution problems have been an issue for years. According to the American Lung Association’s State of the Air Report, the Charlotte-Gastonia-Salisbury area ranks 10th-worst out of 277 metropolitan areas monitored for high-ozone days.

  1. OMG how could you dare to say “sucks”!!! The local masses of complacent no-bodies are going to come at you with torches! You are supposed to say ‘questionable’ because these local clowns do not like any definitive terms. You are supposed to leave everything open ended to accommodate for their complacency and their shortcomings.

    I reject the idea that the media is unbiased, even and fair, and I openly flaunt my own biases and faults whenever possible. (See Twitter @RhiFionn) Humans aren’t unbiased, and the corporate media’s asinine attempts to portray even handedness only make things more uneven.
