Going out in Charlotte doesn’t have to be expensive. In fact, to prove that statement, we’ve compiled a list of cheap – $10 or less – things to do in the Q.C. this weekend. These events may vary, but they’re all entertaining and they won’t break your bank (piggy banks excluded).
Art.Fashion.Music. at Bubble: New Gallery of Modern Art, Lipp Boutique, and SilverFly present this event with modern art pieces by Robert Mars, and a fashion show. Balls to the Wall at Strike City: November is Men’s Health Awareness Month, so StrikeCity is hosting this event in awareness of testicular cancer. There will be a meatball eating contest, a celebrity signed ball raffle, and more. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Jimmy V Foundation. Vintage Charlotte Winter Market at The Fillmore: Sure, it’s not even Thanksgiving yet, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t start doing some holiday shopping to avoid the stress of Black Friday and the days leading up to Christmas. Vintage Winter Market is one of those events where you’ll find lots of cool stuff. Local vendors sell arts, crafts, clothing, vintage goods and more. Symposium: The Arts in Global Africa at Mint Museum Randolph: The symposium accompanies the exhibit, Arts of Africa. There will be a variety of special guest speakers and a masquerade performance by Oyotunji African Village Yoruba at 4:30 p.m., followed by a brief reception. Benefit for Luke Hill at Neighborhood Theatre: When one of its own needs support, the music scene never fails to rally for support. Musician Luke Hill of the Charlotte band Animals was the victim of a hit-and-run last week. With a broken arm, broken ribs and brain bleed, Hill needs all the help he can get on the slow road to recovery. This benefit show to aid with his medical bills features Flagship, Junior Astronomers, Jeremiah Wilde, Warsong and more. $10 donation.
