Twenty-nine year old Antoine D. Young appeared in superior court this afternoon where he faced charges of first degree-murder in the death of photographer Chris Radok.
Dressed in an orange Mecklenburg County Jail jumpsuit, Young was silent for most of the hearing as Judge Regan Miller told him that he will be appointed an attorney who has experience dealing with a serious charge such as his. He was denied bond and will be held in the Mecklenburg County Jail. Young is no stranger to the system with five previous arrests, on charges ranging from breaking and entering to possession of marijuana.
The only time Young spoke was when the judge was telling him about not giving him a bond; he said he couldn’t hear because the deputy was talking, in a slightly defiant voice.
Young will be back in court on Jan. 24.

Antoine Young is a remorseless psychopath and I hope justice will be done so that no more innocents like Chris
Radok will have to suffer and die.Cases like this make me think that the death penalty is appropriate….Young has forfeited his right to live as part of the human community by committing such a savage, senseless act.
I share Phoenixsong’s anger about Chris’ death, and I want whoever killed him brought to justice. But I feel I have to point out something: this guy, A. Young, is, so far, only “accused” of the killing. I’m not saying the guy isn’t capable of killing, although this is the first time he’s been arrested for it, and his mug shot sure makes him look like a cocky asshole — but I simply don’t know, and none of us will know until we see what kind of evidence they have. Who knows, it could be overwhelming evidence which means the police probably picked up the right person. On the other hand, it’s not exactly unknown for police to pick up a known felon for a serious charge in order to finally get him out of their hair and put him away for good. Not saying that’s what happened here — again, none of us know at this point — but if it Did happen, it wouldn’t be the first time. My curiosity is raised by the fact that the police are still asking for tips from anyone who may have any information, After they’ve arrested someone for the crime. I’m not even coming at this from a “he’s innocent until proven guilty” point of view, although it’s certainly true in the legal sense. I’m just saying that given what is common knowledge about how the justice system sometimes works, let’s wait and see what happens before we start calling out for this guy’s head. Thank you and good night.
What an absolute MORON.
Antoine d young can suck my balls.
John,You are right…Of course it must be conclusively proven that young committed the crime….From what I have heard about it,there is MUCH evidence pointing to his guilt. So I will amend my statement to say that if antoine young is guilty, that he should pay the ultimate penalty.Thank YOU,Good Night, and Good Luck
Chris was like my brother as I was growing up in Asheville NC, 1976-81. I miss you bro. Your light will always shine in my heart, and all your friends. Chris was honest, brilliant, hard-working, always there to help a friend, never asked for anything just earned his own. His senseless murder by a stranger is tragic and we are all poorer for what this sociopath murderer took from Chris and us.
