If you watch CNN or read the Cable News Network’s web site, they you know there was this series on this week titled “Black In America.” Touted as a year long investigation that was supposed to show what it really means to be black in America, it actually shows a lot more than that. It also shows how many people are “racist in America.”
Let’s take a look at what some CNN viewers had to say about the program from www.cnn.com:
PLEASE!!!!
Slavery is your excuse!!! How many years ago was that!!!! Most “african-americans” have many more opportunities than “people living in a white world” have!
If you want equality, you need to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and make a life for yourself and not wait for someone to,” oh I’m sorry that your ancestors were slaves…here’s a free ride!”
Have a nice day!

I’m tired of black people whining all the time. Good grief. Get over it already

Being white in America is just as tough as being black. Of course the color of your skin will continue to be an issue if you make it so. Just because you are a suspect of a crime doesn’t mean it’s because it’s because you’re black. If I heard the cops were looking for a 5′ 9″ white guy, I’d probably be nervous, too. It doesn’t make it any more significant because you’re a negro.

Blacks need to stop playing the victim card if they really want equal treatment from society.

Come on! This is all I have to say…another black person complaining about how racial profiliing is so bad. Now I do not hold anything against black people or have any racial feelings tawrds them but, I have had enough! Its statistics…Look it up black people comit the most crimes in America so I can understand when people get a little distressed when they are alone with a black person. With all of the things going wrong in our world, like a priest shooting a man with a crossbow over roadrage who would’t be a little weary about our world and the people who inhabbit it. Just get over it.

I would think over one hundred years is long enough to stop blaming slavery for your problems. Just a thought

More whining about living in the greatest country with the most opportunity. The Asian people in my community don’t complain. They work hard, they save, they appreciate living in America. All we get from blacks is how hard it is, how bad it is, how much the white man keeps them down. Stop complaining and make something of yourself.

All I hear is whine, whine, whine. ‘Poor pitiful me, it’s all because I’m black.’ I agree, look at the history, look at the past, for God’s sake, look at the present!!! Who are the ones committing most of the crimes? That’s not bigotry, that’s statistics!

A 1000 years from now, blacks will still be bringing up “whoa is me, I am a victim of slavery from over a 1000 years ago”. Guess who sold blacks into slavery? Other black tribes from Africa. Stop blaming whitey and pick yourself up by your own boot straps. IF it was white people with blonde hair and blue eyes committing 90% of the crime, they would be the ones profiled.

Boohoo. There’e people out there that don’t have the “ultimate reverence” for the plight of the black people. What did you expect would be the response to something like Black In America? I don’t doubt one bit that the entire reason CNN made the series was entirely to elicit responses like that so they could throw it right back in our face and say “See! We’re still a racist country! We NEED a black president to prove we’re not racist!” You think CNN is going to a do a series called “Redneck In America”? This is not a racist country anymore, even if racism exists. You don’t hear us Jews shouting “anti-Semitism” anymore do you? Yet anti-Semitism is very much alive in America. The only series you see on the Jews is how we went through a whole loto f crap, lived through it, and then made our lives better as a people. That oughta be a hint to the rest of the country, not just black people.
Wow James. You’re Jewish? Thanks for the understanding “brother.” It’s a shame that our people worked hard together in the 1960s and this is what’s become of that relationship. Too bad.
It is not a matter of whining. There is an invisible world out there that DOES EXIST and still discriminates against people based on the color of their skin. The fact that you dont realize this says very plainly that you are not a minority. If this were something you had to deal with on a daily basis, you too would recognize what a cancer it is to our society. Racism is an ever present stigma in our world and the only way to conquer a problem is to constantly cast into the LIGHT.
The problem with racism in this country is that those championing against it, or supposedly (J. Jackson, A. Sharpton), refuse to accept that the situation has gotten better. When was the last time you heard of a black man getting lynched? When was the last time the KKK threw a brick in someone’s window and left a flaming cross on the lawn? I will admit that racism is an issue, but its a two sided issue. Those “oppressing” must stop their “oppression” and those “being oppressed” must show an equal willingness to fix the problem. The “N” word is not ok said by blacks. We Jews dont use the “K” word just because we can (if you don’t know what I mean, look it up). Constantly casting something in the light is not a way to fix a problem. You must cast it into the light and then fix it in the light; that’s what the light is for. Like I said, I fully agree that racism exists, as it pretty much will forever, as will all forms of prejudice, until humans eveolve as a species to the point where that doesn’t exists. But the chance of that happening is as likely as the human race evolving past classism, sexism, and any other form of prejudice. But until you find one person on the face of this earth who has never, EVER, in their life made a sex, race, religion or lifestyle joke or comment, then I don’t see that happening for a LOOOOONG time. Most people forget that many are those who shout “RACISM” from the mountaintops will then start bashing rednecks and Southerners and other such folk. Lest you forget, that is a form of prejudice too. Racism is just one of many, many forms of prejudice that exist in today’s society, and it comes from all types. All races can be and are racists. Men and women can both be sexist. Every religion can be prejudice towards every other religion. Trying to pin down the problem with America as racism towards blacks is absurd. Ignoring the major strides America has made towards conquering the problem of racism is even more absurd. As well, showing hatred towards the hate-filled is not a solution eiher. As the old adage goes “two wrongs dno’t make a right.” By saying “that racist mother f$#@*er, I’m gonna kick his ass,” you perpetuate the hatred. I didn’t watch “Black in America” mainly because I don’t watch CNN, but also because I can guarantee that was nothing in that series I haven’t heard before. Regardless of what it did or tried to accomplish I can only assume that, based on the timing of the series, that it was basically aired as a campaign boost for Obama. Denying this is ridiculous as CNN is basically the DNC’s own network. Then showcasing the negative responses off the website as evidence that this is still a racist country is also ridiculous. For every comment listed above I can think of a Chris Rock “white folks” joke that is equally offensive. Its time to stop trying to bait out the racists. The real hate-filled, seriously dangerous racists are so few and far between nowadays that society has basically marginalized them to where they have no influence anyway. But just remember that everytime you say “damn rednecks” you’re just as bad as anyone who might say “damn black guy.”
James, you’re highly uninformed. Do you know the EEOC has a backlog of discrimination cases that stretches back for years? Hate crime cases are reported on an almost daily basis. You have absolutely NO idea what you’re talking about. You “facts” are based on pure conjecture.
I don’t know what facts I mentioned that you are telling me I’m wrong about. I never quoted facts, I quoted reality. I don’t give a crap what the EEOC reports. I’m sure that every time someone shouts the N word in an office it gets reported and is a heinous act, but how many times does the utterance of the phrase “whtie trash” get reported? Just because racism happens does not mean this a racist country. In fact, it makes this free country, because although racism should be obliterated we are free in this country to express our opinions, albeit not in certain venues, suh as the workplace. If some ignorant fool wants to go on CNN.com and spew racism then good for friggin him. If CNN wants to go and delete all those opinions then good for them too. Its a private website, they could so at any time. Of course, then they would have to give up the “most trusted name in news” slogan. Facts can be skewed to fit whatever narrative anyone wants. Reality goes beyond facts. Racism exists, yes. Is America a racist country? No.
