County officials are looking to get some green for going green.

As The Charlotte Business Journal‘s Susan Stabley puts it:

Solar panels for Mecklenburg County’s north jail expansion project. Millions of dollars in grant money to help businesses swap out dirty diesel engines. Better greenways. Expanded county-wide composting service. Cleaner streams and creeks.

On Tuesday, Mecklenburg County’s board of commissioners will consider programs like these for this year’s federal agenda. If approved, the county will ask the local Congressional delegation to make them priorities when fighting to secure appropriations.

Find out what kind of greenbacks they need for their green projects here.

Also, get your tail down to the Government Center so you can participate. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. You can also watch the meetings online.

In case you missed the link above, here’s the agenda for tonight.

  1. Well Frank, why don’t you go down there and let them know how you really feel. Squawk, squawk, squawk and no action man. Bummer.
