Buckle up for that road trip, because the 19th annual Cucalorus Film Festival will be held Nov. 13-17 at various venues in downtown Wilmington.

A showcase for independent and international cinema, the fest annually presents scores of screenings as well as workshops, parties and other special events. This year, roughly 200 features, documentaries, shorts and more will be shown, with over two dozen countries represented. Among the screenings: Greece’s Boy Eating the Bird’s Food and The Netherlands’ Borgman, each angling to be one of the five nominees in this year’s Best Foreign Language Film Oscar race; The Sacrament, the latest horror flick from writer-director Ti West (The Innkeepers, The House of the Devil); and the acclaimed drama Short Term 12, starring Brie Larson.
