Dear Hangover,
I’m sorry to have to break it to you like this – if only there could have been more time! – but I have some bad news. News broke rather abruptly this morning that Dixie’s Tavern (you know, the one with the big parking lot and cute bouncers) will close its doors for good tonight to make way for a park.
Dixie’s land owner, Levine Properties, has been working with the city and county on the plans and told WCNC it expects to break ground on the uptown park this year and complete the transformation by mid-2015.
I know you’re sad, but just think – we can sit outside all day and read books and sip lemonade and listen to children playing in the grass. Won’t it be wonderful? Stop cringing!
Don’t worry. We’ll find a replacement.
Yours in solidarity.

Your headline and article make it sound like the building will be demolished to make room for the park, but it won’t. The building will remain and be renovated to accommodate a new (maybe more than 1?) tenant. There are renderings of the renovations with some of the park renderings that look quite nice.
