How many times have you flipped through a Creative Loafing or scanned the listings on Craigslist and noticed the ad: Donate eggs for money! Until recently, it never crossed my mind to seriously consider the idea, but according to an article on CNN, more women are inquiring about egg donation.
If it wasn’t such an arduous, painful process, I’d do it. Heck, $5,000 to $10,000 to give up something that’s just going to waste anyway? It’s really not much different than people donating plasma (check out the story we did last week). Just more pain, more time-consuming, and more money.
But, when at all possible, I don’t do pain.

Okay Donating Plasma, and Eggs is QUITE Different! For one the fact that the colletion of eggs is is carried out under what they call ‘heavy sedation’ and seems to be a case of poking a probe into the vagina and using a very fine needle to extract the eggs from the ovaries. A little invading, wouldn’t you say?! Donating Eggs is considered surgery, not to mention that you have the chance of having a child that you don’t even know about until possibly 18 years later. I mean personally, would you want your phone ringing 18 years after you donated. Thanks to the new donor laws. So I must say donating Plasma, yes is good bc you are helping someone else, maybe even saving a life, a life, but donation eggs, is creating a new life. So the question to ask yourself??? Is is really worth it??? That 5-10K
Donating eggs is also helping someone.
And there are many different kinds of donor agreements — some of which allow for contact between the donor and the child.
But yes, if you have a problem with a child being born from your eggs or sperm and raised by someone else as their own child, then donation is not for you. Thankfully, many people don’t feel that way.
