By now, many of you have heard of the term “eco-footprint.” And, by now, I’m pretty sure many of you have no idea what that means. My son thought it had something to do with Sasquatch. Urban legends aside, it is a measurable footprint that each of us leaves on the planet. The size of that footprint is determined by the demands we put on nature as it compares to the planet’s natural ability to meet those needs and it’s a concept that is widely being used around the globe to measure sustainability.

The average American eco-footprint is enormous.
