Head over to the Mint Museum of Art tonight (Tues., Jan. 13) for a program (presented by the Mint Museum of Art and the Charlotte Symphony) titled Bridging Musical Worlds: Blues & Bearden.

The event will explore the relationships between African-American music and art by Romare Bearden, both of which express struggles for freedom. In addition, you’ll be able to check out artwork by Bearden from the Mint Museum of Art’s collection, readings of blues-based literature, performances of traditional blues, and art and songs set to texts by Langston Hughes and Martin Luther King, Jr.  The event is free and it goes down at 7 p.m.
