Rep. Steve King: Look into my eyes . . . you are getting very, very stupid

Tea Party-type conservatives get mad as hell when anyone points out that a substantial number of their supporters — both at rallies and in Congress — are dumber than stumps. My answer to their anger is: Don’t hang out with dumbasses and we won’t have anything to point out. Cases in point, three prominent politicians who are supported by those of the Tea Party persuasion, but who are such obvious know-nothings and/or extremists, you wonder how they get through each day without falling down repeatedly.

First up, Sharron Angle, GOP candidate for Harry Reid’s U.S. Senate seat in Nevada. At various times,  Angle has come out in favor of a return to Prohibition; opposed mothers working outside the home; opposed the fluoridation of water (a “Crackpot Classic” far-right position dating from the 1950s); left open the possibility of armed insurrection against the government “if this Congress keeps going the way it is”; wants to do away with Social Security and Medicare;  and, for six years in the 1990s, was an active member of the Independent American Party, which combines regular right-wing positions on gun rights and states’ rights with beliefs that we’re all headed for a “global government” and that HIV can be spread through the water supply. Read more about Angle here and here.

Second, Rep. Steve King is at it again. The dimbulb congressman who declared that voting on health care reform on Sunday was “sanctimonious,” and speaks of being able to recognize illegal immigrants because they speak with an “accident,” is in the news for claiming that Pres. Obama and Atty. General Holder are racists who “favor the black person” — kind of a replay of Glenn Beck’s infamous “Obama hates white people” remarks. King apparently just can’t help it. This is the congressman, after all, who says it’s also easy to identify illegal immigrants by the shoes they wear, or through “a sixth sense.”

And last but my no means least in the half-wit ignoramus category is your friend and mine, Caribou Barbie. The truth is, Sarah Palin has made so many factually wrong statements, it’s not even fun to point them out anymore, but last night, La Palin topped herself during a critique of Pres. Obama’s speech on the BP disaster. Palin told Bill O’Reilly that America should get the Dutch and Norwegians to help out, because “they are known for dikes and for cleaning up water and for dealing with spills.” Yeah, because building dikes and an expertise in skimming oil from surface water is really going to help plug an oil leak a mile underwater.  Plus, aren’t the Dutch and Norwegians … dare we say it? … Socialists?! Here’s the queen of misinformation herself:

  1. The worst part is that the Democrats are even more stupid than the Republicans.

Who was that Democrat that thought a certain island might flip over if we put too many people on it.

What Palin said made perfect sense. The reason you don’t like beating her up is that what she says is actually right. Your spin falls flat. Ask anyone in the spill area if they would like to have more ability to skim the oil. Just because skimming does not stop the oil leak, we still need to clean up all the oil we can that has already leaked out.

No one ever said we should not take help from allies. Just because their government is doomed to fail does not mean we should not allow them to help us when we could use the help.

If this was Bush you would be blasting him for turning down help. Obama can’t even get his own agencies to work together let alone accepting help from a friend. This is a serious lack of leadership and the American people are starting to see that Obama has failed us.

Palin does get her point across in an awkward manner.

  4. principle is not these folks’ top suit. They know they’re being stupid and thats the point. This is to distract for the wholesale robbery and killing they support.

The whole thing is about remaining in power or trying to get into power. They are either former tyrants, wanna be tyrants or tyrants trying desperately to consolidate their power.

    And it’s on both “sides”.

  6. Yep, he’ back with more meaningless crap trying to defend these teabagging fools. Once again, Mr. Grooms is right to show just how loony and scary these pieces of republican trash really are.

And, to Foxnews inspired blaming of the President: Oh yes, please continue with the psycho-gibberish that President Obama is responsible for the oil spill. This kind of sick comment really defines just how backwards and warped the republican tea-baggers are. “Barack Obama personally blew the rig and swamped it causing the devastating oil leake into the Gulf”. WOW!!!Something so far-fetched and a total lie, yet they will spout it at their little teabag rallies and all over Foxnews. Too damned bad Glen Beck and all these psychos weren’t on the rig having their teabag party when everything went to hell. Too bad Frank Griffin didn’t go down in flames instead of the workers. Don’t worry, he’ll get his chance.

  7. You lying, sorry pig bladder. You have accused the President of everything you possibly could. No one has ‘screwed up’ except for that BP. President Obama doesn’t have a damn thing to do with private oil companies and how they mess up. He CAN hold them accountable and that’s just what he’s doing. It is BP’s resonsibility and only theirs for what happened. To say Washington is at fault is foolish, so leave it to you teabaggers to come up with such crap like that. As I said, Hell’s hot and it’s waiting for YOU!

  8. I know this has been done before, but ATTENTION CL EDITORS/ADMINS: Please block or ban this Frank Griffin and his IP address. He has intentionally duplicated a post and pasted it over and over again and this is proof that he is deliberately breaking the rules of this forum. Why allow such a terrible excuse for a person to attempt to disrupt a message board? Is there no one with Creative Loafing monitoring this?????? Hello?

  9. From the Editor: Look folks, we have no plans to ban anyone from commenting on stories — unless they truly do something heinous. Thanks.

  10. It’s funny how it’s only Griffin who gripes about his posts vanishing. Frank, ever consider that maybe you’re the one not doing something right?
And when it comes to doing something heinous, that’s what I’d call what Griffin has done to this blog’s comments section. He’s made it a joke, and I’m sure that’s not what CL had in mind when it set it up.

  11. This Carlton Hargro is a real piece of work. What a fool. Only someone of low caliber and no professionalism to represent the owner of the paper would allow this kind of abuse on a website meant for the readers. When you see things said like this by someone who is supposedly in charge, it makes you not want to read or support them anymore. Such is the case here. Creative Loafing – good luck! Your editor will be the death of this paper!

Mr. Hargro, enjoy your time in the sack with Frank Griffin.
