This Wells Fargo employee is probably getting a lot of high fives in the break room. Tyrel Oates, who processes requests from customers to stop debt-collection calls, wrote a letter to the bank’s CEO and about 200,000 of its employees requesting $10,000 raises for everyone. “That, he wrote, would ‘show the rest of the United States, if not the world, that, yes, big corporations can have a heart other than philanthropic endeavors.’”
House Speaker Thom Tillis and U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan squared off in their second debate, Tuesday evening. Their attacks were standard, albeit more personal this time around. At one point Tillis called Hagan ineffective, and Hagan called Tillis spineless. (If you think that’s bad, check out what’s going on in Louisiana.)
We know the health risks of Ebola – but now, we know the the economic impact. The World Bank Group estimates that the disease could cost $32 billion by years end if it spreads to more countries in West Africa. The bank says it could be “catastrophic” if it becomes a regional health crisis.
