Janice Covington Allison, a transgender woman who spoke at Monday night’s City Council meeting in favor of passing the nondiscrimination ordinance, shared her story of being approached by a police officer when she was using the ladies restroom at Government Center with the Observer. “I was in shock. I asked her, ‘Am I being arrested?’ When we walked out the door, there were 20 people standing there, eyeballing me and pointing at me, and it was clear they were talking about me.”
