In roads-to-avoid news: UNC Charlotte wants everyone to stay away from Broadrick Boulevard.
Crews are working to fix a water leak in the University area along Broadrick Boulevard. UNC Charlotte is warning students and drivers to avoid the area.The leak is bad enough that it could cause the road to collapse. Water from a nearby lake is seeping into the road. Crews have been pumping water out of the lake, but they have no idea yet how long it’ll take to fix.

Sinkholes are common where the rock below the land surface is limestone, carbonate rock, salt beds, or rocks that can naturally be dissolved by ground water circulating through them. As the rock dissolves, spaces and caverns develop underground. Sinkholes are dramatic because the land usually stays intact for a while until the underground spaces just get too big. If there is not enough support for the land above the spaces then a sudden collapse of the land surface can occur. These collapses can be small … or they can be huge and can occur where a house or road is on top.

My fellow readers, I think in 2010 we should all resolve to turn the other cheek instead of bashing Frank Griffin no matter how hateful he turns towards everyone else. I noticed that in the last few hours on New Years Eve when the rest of us were spending time with family and friends, Frank was spending his time writing several posts on this blog. This tells me that while the rest of us were with loved ones he was all alone and bitter, friendless and with a family that doesn’t want him around (not even his mail order bride). Such a man should be pitied, not hated. Let’s do our best to tolerate him in the new year. Peace and God bless.
