Male Bondage

I want to call this stuff “industrial” – but not in the traditional, genre-signifying sense, and not as a reaction to industrial music. It’s just the best adjective I can think of to describe Male Bondage. No, this is a rock band, hopped up on the sweat and gristle we’ve all seen in stoner rock and raw-boned urban punk. Yet there’s something to their ineffable hard-punk that implies greasy, gear-stripped machinery. So, when I want to call Male Bondage an industrial band, I mean they sound like some rusted dinosaur of big riffs, noxious exhaust and vocal roars that would carry across a noisy factory floor. $5-$9. April 3, 9 p.m. The Milestone, 3400 Tuckaseegee Road. 704-398-0472.
