We knew this was coming, especially after Sarah Palin’s book trashed some members of the McCain camp.

Now there’s a new book by two journalists in-the-know and they’re telling anyone that will listen what they really thought of Mrs. Lipstick-on-a-pig.

But what’s scary as hell is she came so close to the highest office in the land even though she doesn’t understand some of its basic tenets — like the separation of Church and State.

Sarah Palin believed that Sen. John McCain chose her to be his running mate in the 2008 presidential race because of “God’s plan,” according to a top political strategist in the Arizona Republican’s campaign.

In an interview with the CBS news magazine “60 Minutes,” Steve Schmidt described Palin as “very calm — nonplussed” after McCain met with her at his Arizona ranch just before putting her on the Republican ticket. McCain had planned to name Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.) as his choice until word leaked, sparking what Schmidt called political blowback over selecting the 2000 Democratic vice presidential nominee.

Schmidt, McCain’s chief campaign adviser, said he asked Palin about her serenity in the face of becoming “one of the most famous people in the world.” He quoted her as saying, “It’s God’s plan.” Palin has not ruled out a run for the presidency.

  1. Frank,

The VP is the closest position to the highest office in the land.

And just because something isn’t in the constitution doesn’t mean it’s not one of our country’s basic tenents. The freedom of expression isn’t in the constitution either, but it’s also one of the basic tenets that allow you to blather on about your views.

    What?

  2. Whew boy, judging from my prior posts on this thread — and the non-sensical grammar and structure I’ve presented (“Geez where do there’s people come from?” WTF is that?) — it’s obvious that I am slipping further and further into insanity.
So dear readers: please forgive me if I fail to make sense. I never have made sense really, but now I’m getting worser and worser. I really think my mind is slipping because do you realize that in addition to fluoridating water, why, there are studies underway to fluoridate salt, flour, fruit juices, soup, sugar, milk… ice cream. Ice cream, Mandrake, children’s ice cream.

  3. Separation of church and state is a basic tenet of the constitution.

What it means is that there is no state religion. The state can’t make you pray to or worship God, Allah, Buddah, etc. However, they cant stop people from freely expressing their religious beliefs.

Speaking for christianity, its better when it is not a statist religion. Christ works from the bottom up, not top down. Christianity emphasizes a personal walk with Christ. It promotes humility, continuous forgiveness, holy living and service to your fellow man. Most of the big christian leaders want state power and influence when it doesnt work that way.

Most of the legislation that keeps religion out of the public square is a good thing.

Another problem is that many of the famous christians of the US practice hypocrisy and doubletalk. Palin has been proven to be a habitual liar, promotes socialism, idolatry of the american nation-state and supports murderous, unjust wars such as in Iraq and Afghanistan. These people give Christ a bad name.

  4. Now, on to more important matters: Namely, my sad, lonely life.

Picture, if you will, a vast desert, devoid of life or color. A desert so desolate that even cactuses (cacti?) cannot grow there. A place so bleak it makes the moonscape look like Times Square on New Year’s Eve.

That, friends, is an accurate depiction of my life. Which is why I spend hours on end making posts on CL’s Web Site, where maybe a dozen people, tops, will ever see them, and 11 of those people will (rightly) consider me an ill-informed, close-minded, half-lunatic asswipe.

Let me say: I don’t feel sorry for myself. I was born a dull-witted boob and therefore there’s nothing much I can do to change that, short of sticking my head in an oven and inhaling deeply. So with your permission and blessing, I shall continue to post my assinine opinions on this Web site.

Then, as always, I’ll go masturbate and cry myself to sleep.

As always, your time is appreciated.

  5. Just wandered on here, and I gotta say: Frank Griffin, you are one disturbed dude lol. I’m thinking a long rest and some powerful medications might help!

  6. My fellow readers, I think in 2010 we should all resolve to turn the other cheek instead of bashing Frank Griffin no matter how hateful he turns towards everyone else. I noticed that in the last few hours on New Years Eve when the rest of us were spending time with family and friends, Frank was spending his time writing several posts on this blog. This tells me that while the rest of us were with loved ones he was all alone and bitter, friendless and with a family that doesn’t want him around. Such a man should be pitied, not hated. Let’s do our best to tolerate him in the new year. Peace and God bless.

  7. @Frank: The Air Force is not in the Constitution either. Shall we dispose of it?

The right to property is not in the Constitution. How about that? The capitalistic basis for our economy is not either. Should that go as well?

In fact, church-state separation is more well-grounded in the Constitution than any of these others.
