Well, wow. And good for them. Even if the NAACP doesn’t go forward with this vote, they’re making a statement by even considering it.

The NAACP, meeting for its 101st national convention this week in Kansas City, Mo., will propose a resolution condemning “racism” within the Tea Party movement.

A vote could come as early as Tuesday.

The resolution calls upon “all people of good will to repudiate the racism of the Tea Parties, and to stand in opposition to its drive to push our country back to the pre-civil rights era.”

Tea Party officials have denied allegations of racism.

According to the resolution:

Tea party supporters have engaged in “explicitly racist behavior” and “displayed signs and posters intended to degrade people of color generally and President Barack Obama specifically.”

  1. Griffy, thanks as usual for being the parrot for whatever FoxNews is talking about today. What you may want to do is doublecheck what you’re saying. NAACP president Benjamin Jealous told TalkingPointsMemo that racism by the new Black Panthers has to go: “Our message to them is the same thing. They should not tolerate racism and bigotry in their ranks. Move those people out of your organization.” But he then goes on to put the whole comparison of the new Panthers and the Tea Partiers in its proper perspective: “The Black Panther party is a flea compared to the tea party dog.” You understand the comparison, right, Frank? You should, since you seem to be content with your role as a flea to CL’s dog.
