There’s something goofy, maybe just plain stupid, going on in the General Assembly in Raleigh. More than usual, I mean. Progressive website BlueNC reports that the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Environment, and Natural Resources is getting set to vote on a “revised” version of a bill regarding wind turbines that would essentially ban all wind turbines in the North Carolina mountains. The original bill was meant to clarify that wind turbines of 100 kW or below may be built in the NC mountains, along with the 100 kW and above that were previously OK’d. The language in the new “revision,” however, would effectively ban all wind turbines from the mountains, period. This sudden reversal is taking environmental advocates by surprise, to say the least, and threatens to do away with already planned new jobs and clean energy. Find out more about this new development here.

Funny that one group (NC Legislature) that is pushing to force the power companies to generate a certain percentage of their energy from alternative means (i.e. solar, sun, etc.) is now pushing a bill thru that would ban windmills in the NC Mountains. Ummmmmmmmmmm, then how will folks in Western NC get any energy then if windmills can’t be built there (insert several rolling eyes here) ?
Wind power is not a solution. The whole truth about wind turbines is never told by lobbyists and governments.
How could the very weak and extremely unreliable initial energy source of a wind turbine ever produce a steady power of any significance?
