You wouldn’t want to encounter  one of Magdalena Abakanowicz’s modern-looking, and very eerie, sculptures while walking around the campus of Davidson College at night. But no worries, as the pieces are neatly tucked away for viewing in Davidson College’s Van Every Gallery.

The exhibition, which opens this Thursday and continues through Feb. 26, features a series of works by Abakanowicz, a famed Polish sculptor who is widely-known for producing dismembered human-like sculptures from weaving and textiles.

To better understand the pieces in Abakanowicz’s exhibition, come out for a special lecture in Semans Auditorium at Davidson College on Thursday at 7 p.m. Opening reception will follow.
