Rep. Renee Ellmers, North Carolina’s brand-spanking-new tea-partyin’ member of Congress, needs to make up her mind: Either government-subsidized health insurance is the socialistic work of Satan, or it’s not. Ellmers, who enthusiastically campaigned for, and voted for, repeal of health care reform, has decided to take advantage of health care coverage offered to members of Congress and other federal employees, i.e., government-subsidized health insurance, i.e., the work of communists.

According to Raleigh’s News & Observer, Ellmers told a Raleigh call-in radio show yesterday that she signed up for the plan because of the high cost of living in D.C. “People need to understand it costs a lot of money to be here in Congress,” said Ellmers, who is paid $174K per year as a member of Congress. Her husband is a surgeon so, in terms of money, say no more. Ellmers did not indicate whether she was thinking of her constituents’ cost of living when she voted to take away benefits those constituents were scheduled to gain from the health care reform act. So far, only a handful of members of Congress who voted for repealing health care reform have opted out of the federally subsidized insurance plan.

  1. Hate the game not the playa.

Groomy just refuses to understand human nature. Until the perks are gone for everyone why should only liberal leechs benefit from the program. This is like the stimulous money. The state were really getting their own money back. If you lose the battle, you still need to show up and get your piece of the pie back.

  2. Another teabagger with the “do as i say not as i do” mantra. They’ll drive us all into bankruptcy evenutally….oh and len and franky are assclowns!

  3. It never gets old watching little Franky backpedal.

The boneheaded web of illogic this guy can weave to justify his asinine, misinformed worldview is something even we, his intellectual betters, have to take pause and marvel at.

  4. Let’s see, Ellmers makes $174,000, paid for by taxpayers, for her position in Congress. Her husband is a surgeon, so he is totally loaded. Plus, he owns and runs a clinic, so he already has a health insurance plan that could cover his wife. But, she cannot afford to live on that money, so she deserves government subsidized health insurance? While her constiuents in Distrit 2, North Carolina, where I live, and whose median income is $43,000, is suppose to pay for their own health insurance coverage? What is wrong with this picture? This woman needs to go.
