We laugh about South Carolina and all of it’s woes, but a recent poll shows that there are just as many idiots living in the Tar Heel State.
Barely half of N.C. voters believe President Obama was born in the United States, according to a poll released Tuesday.
Public Policy Polling surveyed 749 North Carolina voters Aug. 4-10, and found that 54 percent believe that Obama was born in the United States. Twenty-six percent of those surveyed said they do not believe Obama was born in the U.S., and 20 percent said they were not sure.
The survey found that only 24 percent of Republican voters in North Carolina believe Obama was born in the U.S.
The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.
Conservative critics of Obama contend he is not a natural-born U.S. citizen and, therefore, not eligible to be president.
Let’s be real, the only reason “conservatives” [read white folks] want to believe President Obama isn’t US born is because they don’t want a black president.
Hawaii is a state of this union and that is where President Barack Obama was born.
Are we truly to believe George W. Bush was a C-student in college when he couldn’t pronounce nuclear? We believe Bush was taken by surprise on 9-11, but think that Obama was born in an African village?
Wake up North Carolina, Obama is the president and if you don’t like it, the borders are open for you to leave.

Oh gosh, now that you have revealed there are plenty of narrow minded idiots in North Carolina, the red necks will be rallying down here in SC to outdo you. South Carolina will claw its way to the bottom every time and North Carolina will not out-idiot us! The Urban CONfederates are probably meeting right now to deal with this problem.
Don’t the schools in North Carolina teach history and geography? I cannot believe so many believe Hawaii is not part of the United States of America!! What do they teach at those schools?? I have never heard of such ignorance!! Bottom line, those white religious, far-right wingers simply cannot stand a biracial President in office!! Oh, that’s right, their churces evidently do NOT teach them that ALL men (people) are created EQUAL by GOD!! Ignorance and stupidity reign in this state!! So very shameful!! Isn’t that where Sanford is the governor?? He isn’t too bright either!! Didn’t he try to block the stimulus money from the schools there?? Guess he wants to keep the North Carolina population ignorant and stupid—that way he can do WHATEVER he wants and lie about it!!

I find it interesting that you believe “conservatives” is synonymous with “white folks”. Obama won roughly 35% of the white vote in North Carolina, which means the total of his votes were about one-third from black voters and two-thirds from white voters. Your broad generalization is more than a bit on the intellectually dishonest side.
His mother was an American citizen so this is all pretty much irrelevant. And an idiotic distraction from ACTUAL presing issues. The Paranoid Style in American Politics, indeed.

You should try clicking the link and reading the actual poll results, Francis. I know it’s probably easier for you to use your ignorance as a shield from criticism, but do you really WANT to look like a fool?
Francis, if you really HAD read the poll results (not the link, but the actual poll results), you would have seen this:
